I think Katie Horner is great, actually. During the tornado outbreak in May of 2003, she seemed to be the only person not freaking out and screwing up all over the place.

Are we talking about the same Katie Horner? Are we talking about the same outbreak?

Look at the links from that year. She miscalled 2 tornadoes that year, plus had the "helmet" incident. She stated there was a tornado at Shawnee Mission Parkway and 435, when in fact there was nothing there....

I understand that 'breaking' into programming equal ratings, but jesus, anytime a bolt of lightning strikes we get all sorts of tickers and interruptions.

There's a reason why more and more people are going to non-network TV, it's the same reason more and more people are going to i-pods and satellite radio..do you people think it's helping!?

I have to agree with what ABC did, they put a "Tornado Warning, tune to analog channel for details" graphic over the HDTV side for those watching it. If you did not care, you still got to see your shows.

KSHB has a HDTV 41-002 dedicated to severe weather, so why interrupt normal programming. KCTV has sister stations (62 I think) so broadcast there with that graphic to tune in there if you want to know the weather. These are a couple examples that I have heard that I seriously agree with, and I think ABC did it right doing what they did to air the full prime time stuff on the HD side without broadcasting weather there.
