I Didn't know it was possible to get this drunk

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota authorities say a woman found passed out in a stolen delivery van earlier this month registered a blood alcohol content of .708nearly nine times the legal limit and a possible record for the state.

Meade County State's Attorney Jesse Sondreal said Wednesday that 45-year-old Marguerite Engle was found slumped over the van's steering wheel along a highway on Dec. 1.

He says the highest blood alcohol content state chemists he spoke with could recall was a .56. The state's legal limit is .08.

Authorities say Engle missed an initial court hearing Dec. 15, but that they found...

    Frank has math conversion problems.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming....."WOO-HOO what a ride!"

No, dear friends, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing:

Re: I Didn't know it was possible to get this drunk

A .708 Blood Alcohol Concentration/Content (BAC) means that this person had 70.8 drops of pure alcohol for every 10,000 drops of blood in your system. Under most circumstances a BAC of .1 indicates intoxication in the average person. Most people know that it takes on average an hour for one alcoholic beverage to leave someone's system but this is a bit misleading. For example, it takes longer for over weight people, it takes longer if you've eaten just before or after consuming alcohol as the food tends to absorb the alcohol.

Some alcohol is absorbed in the stomach but for the most part it happens in the small intestines, so if you eat the body must first break down the food to get to the alcohol then absorb the alcohol, then the alcohol goes to the brain. So someone who drinks with meals often doesn't feel the alcohol for quite some time afterwards.

This person was most likely very ill. I'm sure her world was spinning, if she hadn't vomited yet the vomit was on its way. Good thing she was asleep as she couldn't have been "feeling good" with that BAC.

Bet she was either out of this world feeling good or like total s...!
That is, if she was even capable of feelings!

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't .4 considered lethal?

According to an article on wikipedia, 0.3 - 0.39 can cause severe depression, unconsciousness, and possible death and begins to cause problems with your bladder control, breathing, and heart rate. At >0.4 death is highly possible and breathing and heart rate can become difficult to maintain.
